“Whenever we make the effort to return to the source and to recover the original freshness of the Gospel, new avenues arise, new paths of creativity open up, with different forms
of expression, more eloquent signs and words with new meaning for today’s world. Every form of authentic evangelization is always ‘new.’”
Evangelii Gaudium #11
The mission of the Office for the New Evangelisation is to direct coordinate, and support Diocesan-wide efforts in Lay Adult Formation, providing comprehensive training and resources to parishes as they endeavour to help others “rediscover the joy of believing and enthusiasm for communicating the faith” (Porta Fidei #7).
Given that the aim of catechesis is to lead people to communion with Jesus Christ (Catechesi tradendae, #5), the goal of the Office for the New Evangelisation is twofold: 1) to engage Catholics in our parishes to embrace a living and sincere faith, and 2) to reach out to those who are seeking Christ, whether they are not practicing any religion or have fallen away from the Church.
The Office for the New Evangelisation supports the mission of the Diocese of Lancaster in carrying out Christ’s mandate to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Mt. 28:19), taking as its starting-point the re-evangelisation of the baptized Christian.
